Mental Health for individuals

Mental Health and Well-being is a key component of a balanced and happy life.  Severe Mental Illness, requiring for instance hospital admission, is primarily provided through NHS Mental Health Services, but they are often only able to take on those with the most extreme levels of problems.  At the other end of the spectrum are those with less severe disturbances to their mental well-being (for instance after a relationship breakdown)that can often be managed with a small number of specialist sessions.

At Harrison Psychiatric Services, we are specialists in the provision of treatment for a wide range of common mental health disorders that are present predominantly in adulthood.  We utilise the highly specialist skills of our team, to treat those suffering with less severe problems which can generate huge day to day issues for the individuals.

This level of expertise and skill means that treatment is more clearly defined and tailored to the needs of the individual, and a number of treatment modalities can be utilised simultaneously to provide the most rapid return to health. Even a single session with a consultant psychiatrist can be sufficient to plan a treatment strategy that you can take back to your GP to implement.

If treatment is required, Harrison Psychiatric Services can either provide in-house or onward referral to an appropriate psychological discipline.  We can provide alongside traditional talking therapies, specialist interventions including Mindfulness (for depression, anxiety, and general coping with life stressors) and EMDR (primarily to deal with traumatic events).  We are able to effectively manage medication when required to provide an acceptable treatment that is highly efficacious.  In addition we have links to other specialists who we can refer on to to provide other clinical interventions, meaning a holistic treatment package is available for every one.

How much does private mental health care cost?

At Harrison Psychiatric Services we aim to keep costs to a minimum in order to enable all our clients to access the best possible medical care.  We hope you will find our rates comparable with other services, but please remember that as a specialist Consultant Psychiatrist led service we offer more than just counselling so cannot be compared directly with such providers.  Whatever your financial situation please discuss your case with us, as we may be able to help, or point you in the right direction for further help.

Private Medical Insurance – When you have agreed treatment with your insurance provider please contact us, in most cases we will invoice them directly for the costs incurred.

Direct payment – We are happy to see clients without medical insurance, who wish to pay for their own treatment.  Even a single assessment appointment and treatment recommendations can help you to recovery faster than standard GP care.

An initial assessment is £225 in most cases, which includes a minimum of 1 hour with a consultant psychiatrist and a full report sent to both yourself and your GP.

Follow up appointments generally cost £200 and last up to 45minutes depending on what treatment is required.

Therapy sessions (such as EMDR) last up to 90 minutes and cost £225 per session.  An average number of sessions would be 12, although this would be discussed with the therapy provider at the initial assessment.
